Ceramic Coating in Utah
A ceramic coating turns your paint into a slick, hydrophobic surface that sheds water, resists staining, and stays glossier for years. Elite Detail Lab applies ceramic coatings as part of a full paint-prep package — never on top of a dirty car.
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to clear coat, creating years of hydrophobic protection: water beads off, contamination sticks less, and washing gets dramatically easier. Applied only after proper decontamination and paint prep.
What ceramic coating actually does
The coating bonds chemically to the clear coat and forms a semi-permanent glass-like layer. Water beads and rolls off, carrying dust with it. Bird droppings, bug splatter, and tree sap have a harder time bonding to the surface — and when they do, they clean off easier.
- Hydrophobic: water beads and sheets away
- Chemical resistance to bugs, sap, and fallout
- Deep gloss that holds for years, not weeks
- Less time and product spent on every future wash
Prep is the product
A coating is only as good as the paint underneath it. We decontaminate, clay, and correct the paint before coating so the finish underneath is perfect — and the coating locks that finish in. Skipping prep is how coatings fail early and look patchy.
- Full decontamination: iron fallout, tar, and bonded grime
- Paint correction to remove swirls where required
- Coating applied in controlled, clean conditions
Coating vs. wax vs. sealant
Wax lasts weeks and a good sealant lasts months. A ceramic coating is measured in years. For a daily driver that parks outside, coating is the set-and-forget option; for garage queens, it keeps every wash effortless.
- Wax: warm glow, weeks of protection
- Sealant: synthetic protection, months of life
- Ceramic: years of hydrophobic, stain-resistant protection
Coating with PPF or tint
Ceramic coating pairs with PPF for maximum protection and with window tint for a complete package. Because we're mobile, the whole process — prep, correction, coating, even film — can happen in one visit at your location.
Frequently asked questions
How long does ceramic coating last?
Professionally applied coatings generally hold 2 to 5+ years depending on grade, environment, and maintenance. We'll spec the right product for how the car is used.
Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?
Yes — coating on top of film is a common and recommended combination for gloss and easier cleaning.
Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips?
No. Coating is chemical and environmental protection. For impact protection, pair it with paint protection film.
How long does a coating appointment take?
Plan on a full day for proper prep and coating. Some multi-day sessions are needed for correction-heavy or large vehicles.
